“Odun Nlo Sopin,” meaning “The Year is Ending,” is one of the most cherished gospel works of C.A.C. Good Women Choir, Ibadan, under the visionary leadership of Mrs. D.A. Fasoyin. Originally a beloved chorus sung in Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C.) churches during year-end celebrations, the choir, guided by the Holy Spirit, added two powerful verses, transforming it into a heartfelt prayer for God’s protection and favor as one year ends and another begins.
The album was recorded on 29th June 1979, marking the choir’s fifth release after “Halleluyah Ale,” “Kaye Koyo,” “Mo Nwoju Oluwa,” and “Baba Fara Da Irora Fun Mi.” From 50 women who traveled from Ibadan, 15 were selected through rigorous studio auditions, ensuring the highest musical standard. True to the choir’s spiritual tradition, members would fast, pray, and seek God’s guidance before every recording, a practice that imbues every track with spiritual power.
Odun Nlo Sopin is more than music—it is a prayer in song. Over the decades, countless listeners both in Nigeria and abroad have testified to God’s faithfulness, protection, and supernatural blessings through these tracks. The choir’s commitment to ministry over monetary gain, including reinvesting their first royalties into ministry resources, demonstrates their heart for God’s work.
