In our latest 40k tactics video I go over how to stop your units from getting trapped in combat. Trapping units in combat is a very successful tactic by assault armies. In this video, I go over how to avoid it and what to do if you do get trapped! Summary: How to pin Alternative names- tri tip/ trapping / hostage taking Step one avoid the trap: - Know what armies are going to try and do this. - Screen with fly units - Unit positions. V shape/. Create space with circles or transports with fly next to unit so can fall back into the space - Position near terrain so can move vertically - Have counter assault units ready so that you can punish them for trying this cheeky move - Set up near terrain They are about to trap you- step 2: - Control their pile in – HI (prefer unit that can fly) or counter charge ie. Custodes - Combat interrupt and base all the models forcing them to fight you! You may be able to base them this preventing pinning as well! - Combat interrupt if they activate with another unit first: Pile in so they kill you or set up your defense. When they have trapped you- step 3: - Counter assault. The Eversor is your friend against GSC! - Remember redeploys- i.e tide of traitors - Relics such as Becon Angelis/ dark matter/. Gate of infinity/ teleport homers. - Kill them in the psychic phase: Smite/ Psychic powers. - Do area of effect mortal wounds: Explode vehicles/ orbital bombardment - Some abilities allow you to hit own troops – valhallan hit own troops on 1’s- you usually only need to kill one model – use it!! - Give them something they can’t kill- T8 tank, riptide- charge it into one end of the unit- they won’t be able to kill it if strung out. (if it has fly it’s even better) - Remember smite and pistols can still work Check out our sponsors' Glasshammer Games : https://www.glasshammergaming.co.uk/ #40kTactics #D6Evolution
