The second of 3 videos from my latest visit to Frankfurt Airport, this time I decided to visit the Western viewing platform situated next to Runway 18. Which offered decent views of spool ups on Runway 18 and touchdowns on Runway 07R, unfortunately I could only film arrivals after they passed the trees so I hope this is fine, but the view of touchdowns was great.
It was yet again another hot day with temperatures around 30+ degrees creating heat haze, the north easterly winds also made for some interesting crosswind landings, and also resulted in two go arounds due to windshear! One including a Lufthansa A320 and the other a Kuwait 777. The Kuwait 777 go around was certainly an impressive sight! There were a few other go arounds as well, but the aircraft aborted higher on approach before they passed the trees so I was unable to capture those.
Anyway a nice variety of movements in here, including a mixture of narrow bodies and wide bodies. A few special liveries too including the Etihad 787 wearing the Formula 1 livery, very nice to see but not as nice as the A340 that had the F1 scheme.
