It may seem like a dirty move, but hey, it’s almost impossible to detect whether or not a team is doing it on purpose. After all, most teams that end up with high draft picks are simply terrible. So how could we possibly accuse them of losing on purpose? The thing is, these teams are smart when it comes to “tanking.” They’re not necessarily trying to lose games on purpose, but they make the right moves in order to set up a few years of being terrible.
