Setting up a raspberry trellis is usually a pain and when I was wondering how to set up a raspberry trellis, I didn't think it could be as easy as it was. Using a Gripple Garden Trellis Kit, wire cutters, some T-posts and a mallet, I installed this trellis in about 15 minutes!
Last year we made a trellis for our raspberries out of bamboo & galvanized wire. It was a pretty jank set-up, so I had it on my to-do list this year to install a legitimate trellis so we can get a legitimate harvest of berries. Let me know if you have any questions about growing raspberries & I'll be happy to help!
Raspberries are one of the plants that I plan to farm acres & acres of in the future, so now is the time of trial & error - learning the ins & outs and how to boost our yields. Right now we're growing in the field, but my plan is to grow raspberries in high tunnels (essentially an unheated greenhouse). Though it's not standard to grow them in greenhouses, it makes a ton of sense for a few reasons:
-Gives you an earlier spring, meaning an earlier harvest
-Extends the season, meaning later harvests into the winter months
-No fruit lost to rain. When it rains, you can't harvest fruit when growing outdoors
-Provides extra protection from pests
That's somewhere in the 5-year plan, but for now, we'll stick to boosting our backyard harvest.
