The Precious Moments Chapel

 

The Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri is a very unique roadside attraction. The grounds, buildings, sculptures, and other art pieces were designed by Precious Moments creator Samuel J. Butcher. Billed as “America’s Sistine Chapel,” Mr. Butcher was said to have created this fascinating attraction over several years in the mid 1980’s. It truly is a majestic place with a lot of heart and soul put into it. The inside of the chapel is adorned with huge paintings, stained glass, and other artwork depicting several scenes of a Precious Moments Heaven. Operated by Precious Moments, Inc, The Chapel is accompanied by a museum, welcome center, and gift shop.
