In todays video I'm gonna be going over different rep ranges and helping you decide which rep range when you're training is best for you and your goals. We're going to be going over the 3 main rep ranges: low reps, high reps, and moderate reps. First we'll go over high reps, which is 15+ reps. High reps are intended to be used with light weight. This rep range is also intended for one primary goal, which is weight loss because when you are going with a low enough weight to be able to do more than 15 reps you're not going to be recruiting your type 2 muscle fibers (fast-twitch) which is where growth resides. If your'e trying to put on muscle, you need to be going heavy enough to engage these muscle fibers. This rep range is also great for endurance training, which will help with caloric expenditure which will help with burning calories before and after your training. Next up is low reps, which is going to be 5 or less reps. This rep range will be using heavy weight, explosive reps because you're trying to get that weight up and you'll be pushing as hard as you can to complete the rep. This is a great rep range for building strength, so if you are pursuing strongman/powerlifting then low reps is your go-to rep range. The one downside to low reps is not much time under tension - so if you want to build muscle, check out the last rep range. Last rep range, moderate reps, is anywhere from 8-12 reps. That rep is not super quick, not super explosive, or super slow, you'll be using a nice moderate tempo to really control the weight & optimize the time under tension for maximum muscle growth. This tension will allow for lactic acid to be formed, which is amazing for boosting the anabolic hormones HGH and testosterone. This will place your body into a much more anabolic state, to build more muscle mass and size (hypertrophy) What rep range is your favorite? Let me know down below!
