A short video of my flight from LAX to Bogotá, Colombia. I flew Avianca Airlines. Even though I arrived at the airport early, it took a long time to get checked-in. They threw every objection to taking Myrtle that any airline has ever used. I also discovered I needed a ticket for a flight out of Colombia in order to check-in. Right there at the check-in counter, I bought a random, refundable, ticket from Bogota to Quito Ecuador. Once I got the email confirmation and checked in, I canceled the flight to get my money back. After lots of talking to many people, Myrtle was checked-in at no extra charge. Sometimes, you just have to keep talking!
This was a 7-hour overnight flight with lots of snoring, screaming babies and no sleep. Customs and immigration in Colombia was very easy with no entry fees. I had made arrangements to have a driver take me and Myrtle to my homestay for the next 3 weeks while I study Spanish at Whee Institute and acclimate to the 9,000 ft elevation of Bogota.
Thanks for watching!!
