This video introduces you to Ms. Chiaki Horan, one of the upcoming hopeful newscasters and TV spokespersons in Japan. “Chiaki” means autumn in Japanese. Japan has a distinctive four seasons and she was born in autumn. Chiaki commutes to TBS, one of Japan's major TV broadcasting companies, from her home in the Tama district of Tokyo, which is not so close. Chiaki lives with her family: her mother is Japanese, her father is a Japanese citizen of Irish origin, and her younger brother. The family is very close.
Chiaki originally wanted to become a journalist, but it was too competitive to get a position. So, she became a newscaster instead. Today she wants to expand her career to the entertainment business such as acting. This area too is very competitive in Japan. As you can tell from my videos, there are many attractive, talented people in J's industry, and these days, foreigners who can speak Japanese also try to get into the business. So, the industry is really competitive.
Chiaki is shy...; if she can help it, she would rather stay at home with her family, instead of exposing herself to the public. These days, though, she is demanded on TV, and she is seen by millions of people in the world. Her job also often requires her to travel all over Japan and the world. Furthermore, anything to do with “Ireland” comes to her because she is half-Irish. She never really sees herself as “Irish” but she enjoys the assignments, she says. Best of luck to Chiaki !!
