Rail traffic between Belgrade and Novi Sad takes place through some of the most important railway routes in the country (Belgrade - Subotica - Hungarian border and Belgrade - Šid - Croatian border). A large number of freight trains transit through Serbia on their way to other European countries. It makes freight rail transport in Serbia interesting and non-monotonous.
