On Thursday the 14th of December 2017 I went up into the Adelaide Hills to watch a few trains.
Here what I saw:
00:25 - The second to last 3PM1 is seen at Eden Hills with 6028/6041/6042. The track on the right is the Adelaide Metro Broad Gauge track.
01:00 - 3PM1 is seen once again at Mount Barker Junction with 6028/6041/6042. Three tracks are seen with the old Dual Gauge Steam Ranger track seen next to the station.
03:05 - GWA Grain Train 2182s from Tailem Bend is with GWU005/FQ01/GWA007 at Nairne. GWU005 is has just returned to service after an overhaul.
04:00 - GWA Grain Train 2182s is seen once again at Fosters Corner after stalling at Mount Lofty with GWU005/FQ01/GWA007. The train was seen crawling down the hill as it prepares to take the loop.
05:50 - Pacific National Freight 5AM5 is seen at the Belair Railway Station with NR89/AN5/8220/8223. The AN can easily be heard with its 4,000 HP EMD engine.
08:25 - GWA Grain Train 2182s departs Belair Crossing loop with GWU005/FQ01/GWA007 after crossing 5AM5. Only throttle 2 was needed to get the load moving as its already on a down hill sloop.
