In this episode, I install the bamboo flooring. Since I am building a Japanese teahouse for my friend, bamboo flooring is an obvious choice. If you have some experience in basic carpentry, installing bamboo flooring is pretty straightforward. One catch in this installation was that I couldn't use a floor nailer. Because the bamboo flooring was so soft, it might splinter if I used a flooring nailer. The floor stapler was hard to find, but it was the right tool for the job. I had to pre-drill and hand drive nails for the first row, since the bamboo is so soft. If it was hardwood, I could use my pin nail gun. The first row was face nailed, since the floor stapler won't fit, but these nails will be covered by base trim. I use my table saw to make the cuts in the flooring to wrap around the doorway. After this step in the construction, Eric considered it complete enough to use it, and I finally go over and have a tea ceremony with him.
