Today Henry went on his first field trip alone with no nurse. He was 100% in charge of his bag. He is 8 years old and in 3rd grade. I was nervous about it and probably wouldn't have allowed it if my friend who's a 2nd grade teacher with a Type 1 daughter wasn't going to be there. I knew he'd do awesome and knowing she was there for an emergency allowed us to be comfortable with it.
** He had a temp basal as he was heading to the bus. He had a starburst when he got there and was 100 stable the entire performance. He rocked it! He remembered his bag and did a great job. I think that calls for a special treat tonight. Our type 1 kids go through so much and have no much extra things to worry about. It's so important that we remind them how proud we are of them.
