34081 “92 Squadron” absolutely STORMS over the Watercress Line (Front Window 12)

 

The steep gradients of the Mid-Hants Railway give the perfect opportunity to hear locomotives working at their very best, and this is no exception. Filmed at the railway's Summer Steam Gala, the recently overhauled Bulleid "Battle of Britain"class, 34081 "92 Squadron", gives a breathtaking run from Alton to Medstead and Four Marks, over the 1/60 gradient. The locomotive can be heard giving a pounding 3-cylinder beat that, even from the second window back, peaked my microphone at some points!
