Today, my tribe and others got to kill the dragon boss on hard mode. You can still pin him, but be careful of the fireballs when you first spawn in as they can one shot you off your mount. We boxed it in and was easy from there on out. All you need to worry about is someone moving left stick. That will cause the dragon to move out of the box of Rexes.
