Tropical Storm Cindy Flash Flooding - 6/23/2017 Pinckneyville, IL

Written By Meteorologist & Storm Chaser Tony Laubach on Saturday, Jun 24, 2017 | 09:04 AM

The remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy moved into southern Illinois during the overnight and early morning hours on Friday, June 23 and dumped as much as 5-7 inches of rain across the region, leading to some extensive flash flooding over parts of Jackson and Perry Counties. This video covers the closure of Rt. 13 on the south side of Pinckneyville in Perry County due to water that had collected under the train bridge. Pinckneyville Police blocked northbound 13 and detoured traffic around the closure while IL-DOT crews blocked the southbound lanes. An IL-DOT truck tested the depth and determined it was safe enough for semi trucks to pass. Rt 13 reopened later that morning. ***NOT FOR BROADCAST - LICENSING AVAILABLE*** This video is part of the Tornadoes Kick Media stock video collection from Tony Laubach.
