Transgender Surgery Services: Sydney Walther’s Story Sydney Walther is a 20-year-old Virginia resident who traveled to NYU Langone in February 2017 for a life-transforming, gender-affirming procedure at our Hansjӧrg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery. Her reconstructive plastic surgeon, Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner, performed a transgender vaginoplasty, working with her colleague Dr. Lee Zhao, who specializes in robotic surgery. Sydney—who now feels as if a weight has been lifted from her shoulders—and her parents share their experience.
