The origin of the four Varnas as mentioned in the Veda has been discussed in Manu smriti in details. This talk explains the sacred origin of the four varnas and role of each in society .
Manusmriti is a systematic study of one of India's foundational spiritual texts. These discourses aim to uncover the deep philosophical truths and practical wisdom contained within our scriptures, guiding seekers toward a life of clarity, devotion, and self-realization.
Smritis are the systemically arranged dharmas (code of conduct) scattered over the different texts of the Vedas. They supplement and explain the Vidhi (what one should do) and Nisedha (what one must not do) in the Vedas, which when followed properly can lead a person to the ultimate goal of life, which is liberation. These dharma also regulate Hindu national, social, family and individual obligations.
Of the hundreds of Smritis, Manusmriti is the oldest, authoritative, most famous, catholic, and progressive for its time. Manu's statements are considered healthy and acceptable, and hence all later works were based on this work. Many great scholars and sages wrote commentaries on it.
