Director Ramesh Selvan said that he had begun writing the script in August before Ramkumar was nabbed by the police. “I followed the investigation and spoke to a few acquaintances of both Swathi and Ramkumar, as well as officials investigating the case as research for the movie,” he said. When asked about a possible backlash from the family members of those involved in the case as he has retained all the original names and has reproduced the case on screen, he said that he was going to screen the movie for both the families separately. “I will take the film and screen it to both Swathi’s and Ramkumar’s families separately and get their approval before I proceed with the release,” Mr Ramesh added.
