Baywatch has officially belly flopped at the box office.
According to the numbers, the comedy is only expected to bring in 22 million bucks in its opening weekend.
Now, you might be saying: hey, that sounds like a lot of money.
But when you consider that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales raked in 76.6 million… you can see how it missed the mark.
Industry insiders thought the movie would bring in at least 42 million, some even went as low as 37 million.
But maybe it was the 19% score it got on Rotten Tomatoes that kept people away.
It’s a rare miss for Dwayne Johnson – who usually hits them out of the park… but Paramount execs think its overseas numbers will help in the long run, considering it was a relatively inexpensive film to make.
Guess showing a little skin just isn’t enough these days.
