so ive been lovingly calling this my "corrupt" next gen. its not like a backup or anything, i just wanted a ng with a lot more story behind it. speaking of which -
basically this entire alternate ng hinges on the plot point that twilight would join/befriend chrysalis in order to learn more about the changelings and to help them gain more love to feed on. in this world, twilight sympathizes with the changelings and asks to go and live with them, which makes chrysalis able to take over canterlot. for a long time chrysalis is content ruling just canterlor, and while the rest of the mane 6 dont approve of twilights behavior, they all consider her their friend still and stay in contact with her (at first hoping they could change her mind eventually, but that hope died after a while). later, twilight seeks out a spell to change her into a changeling and she eventually has a daughter with chrysalis.
since everyones hope eventually dwindled, their personalities changed slightly for the worse. rainbow dash understood lightning dusts need for power, applejack admired svengallop's overbearing, controlling personality, rarity teams up with suri to become a legendary lying and cheating fashion duo, fluttershy becomes reclusive and lives in near solitude with her dragon partner, and pinkie pie retreats into the human world where she eventually meets adagio.
major plot points are obviously changed because of this (sunset takes over the school and makes it to equestria but is stopped by twilight and chrysalis's changeling army, king sombra is stopped similarly, etc.)
the thing is, when the mane 6's children all meet for the first time, they immediately realize that friendship is much more preferable than being lonely and following in their parents footsteps. so while all of them have their bad personality quirks, theyre working to undue the damage their parents made - no matter how long it takes.
its kind of depressing, but i really wanted a next gen where everyone ends up with villains or some kind of antagonist. and then as i kept thinking about it, a plot eventually developed and now im here...
