A woman living with Gigantomachia for the 12 years seeks help

http://www.nation.co.ke Ms Beatrice Muthonjera who has lived with Gigantomachia for the past 12 years hopes to get help from well-wishers to enable her resume her daily duties. The 28-year-old Muthonjera from Laare in Meru County has struggled with the condition after visiting uncountable number of hospitals which have never identified the real cause of the disease. The condition has robbed her the ability to walk and conduct her daily chores since she has to move around with the aid of a wheelchair and carried by her husband in and out of the house. The mother of two could not raise money for his surgery this forced the husband to stay with her at home not knowing what to do. Gigantomachia is a rare medical condition of the breast connective tissues in which the breast weight exceeds approximately three per cent of the total body weight. The condition occurs to girls during puberty just after they start having monthly periods can also occur during pregnancy. ​Ms Ruth Makena a survivor of the same condition started a Gigantomastia Foundation, which assists girls and women with the same condition with funds to cater for the surgery.
