The San Diego Jeep Club put together this event with new Jeepers in mind. These trails we were running today are great overland trails, but today we are just going to be doing an easy day run to enjoy the desert flower super bloom. Nothing crazy! 🌐 TRAILRECON.COM 🌐 https://trailrecon.com Check out our website if you’re looking for off-road or overland gear and equipment for your next rig and your next off-the-grid adventure. The Salton Sea use to be surrounded by a growing resort town, but due to many factors the salinity of the lake rose so high that most fish can no longer survive and the resort town has become almost nonexistent. The start of our trip began along a canal trail before crossing over onto the Bradshaw Trail. The Bradshaw trail is and old Gold Mine Road that was used extensively in the late 1800’s during the gold rush. It is about 70 miles long, but we were only going to be doing a short section and then break off to the Red Rock Canyon Trail. This year California has received a lot of much needed rain and has turned the desert alive. I have never seen it this colorful out there and it’s hard to believe that in just a few weeks, this will all be gone. Red Canyon Shortly after leaving the abandoned railroad trestle, we turned off onto the Red Canyon Trail. Now there is a very scenic section of the trail that runs through the canyon, but because we had so many Jeeps, turning around would have been a challenge in the canyon, so we will have to come back another time and explore. I will say that this section of trail was much more scenic than the section of Bradshaw we were on. So we took the high road on the Red Canyon, but there is a trail that goes through the canyon that is supposed to be pretty spectacular and I worth going back and exploring, but taking 27 Jeeps through there and trying to turn around would have been a challenge.
