So i'm suprised that i didn't die in this run, i was very carefull since the recording lags me. So for Chaos Vellum you can lure him with the arrow, and have max distance everytime he come out of the ground(less when he trow fire balls), this can really make you go earlyer than you expect, you don't have to attack close to him everytime(losing a significant damage).
