Take a peek at my first three days in Tokyo, Japan. Planning the trip was so fun but actually being there felt so surreal. Here's what we did: Day 1- We decided to take it slow on our first day since we were feeling not ourselves because of the jet lag and among other things. Tsukiji Market was a must on my list but unfortunately we couldn't see the live fish auction! But we did get to see a lot of fish and long lines of people waiting to get into the restaurants. We also tackled some stationary stores, such as, Tokyu Hands and G. Itoya, and visited the biggest Uniqlo in Japan. Since it was the New Year's, the Apple store in Ginza was bustling with activity. Super crowded and I was very impressed with their clear elevator. (It's also the first Apple store outside of the U.S.). At night, we ventured into Kabukicho a.k.a. Red Lights District. People weren't lying when they said it resembled NY's Times Square. What really shocked me was how "out there" everything was. Establishments offering sexual entertainment and throngs of men standing together [as if] they were part of the Yakuza. Day 2- The second day was all about figures, figures, figures (and Japan's renown fluffy pancakes). In the morning, we visited probably the biggest Yodobashi (department store selling anything and everything) we saw during the whole trip. Right outside of it, we found the yummiest takoyaki! Drooling just thinking about it... There were a lot of other yummy snacks outside but we had to save room for The French Toast Factory located on the top floor of Yodobashi. Unfortunately, the pancakes were a miss for me. Sure, they jiggled and looked so fluffy but I've had better. Afterwards, we went to a couple of figures store. I saw so much figures and nendoroids on that day that I was able to point out who Hatsune Miku was. I walked until I had to sit on the floor of Akihabara Radio Kaikan. But he still kept going so I just waited there thinking, "This is probably how guys feel when girls shop." Nevertheless, I really enjoyed seeing Japan's figure collecting culture. P.S. There were a lot of maid cafes in Akihabara. Day 3- We ventured into the area of Ueno Asakusa on the third day. I wished I tried one of their local restaurants because the prices were around $5 USD for one dish! Ameya Yokocho is one of my favorite places that I visited in Japan. There is SO much to see and do there. Tons of snacks, tons of Annello bags and tons of miscellaneous items! I found my favorite Japanese snack there too: the red bean paste steamed bun. It is crunchy and glazed on the outside and sweet on the inside. Afterwards, we took on SensoJi Temple but we spent more time at Nakamise, which is the path leading up to the temple. We saw a lot of the snacks that we saw at Ameya Yokocho earlier so we didn't try much and it was also freezing! I loved how busy it was and even got to see some girls wearing kimonos. Oh, and we also bought another suitcase there to put all his figures from Day 2. Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe for the next episode!
