Back in the late Fifties, British song writers were struggling to keep up with the flood of American rock, pop and do-wop songs. As a result, our home grown teen idols resorted to covering big US hits (and often, we didn't even know they were US hits!). Marty Wilde was one of those UK rock stars who made his name with many US covers. Here's his version of the hit by Dion and The Belmonts. On this occasion, we DID know about the original version. In 1959, Dion made #28 in our charts with this one, while Marty Wilde went all the way to #2.
