Flying from Torrance to Santa Catalina Island

I made this flight on Friday, Nov 25, 2016 in a Cessna 172. This was my first flight to the island in real life, though I have made it multiple times in a FSX (not quite the same). Departure was from Zamperini (KOTA) to the coast, then heading south around Rancho Palos Verdes to Point Fermin just west of Long Beach Harbor, then south again to Santa Catalina Island and landing at Catalina (KAVX). I've made a few notes in the video as a better description of what's going on as well as explanations of small mistakes and ATC comments for both neophytes and seasoned pilots alike. Video was shot using a GoPro Hero4 Black with a head mount and an NFlightCamera cockpit kit adding ATC audio to the film.
