Hello fellow car enthusiasts. Today we are presenting a concept of the 2018 Acura Integra Type R. This might seem reduntant as there is a Honda Civic Type-R about to be released in the USA. So how will the new Integra stand out?
First lets take a look at the layout. As you can see in the top left corner, the first Integras were a fastback / hatch type design which is similar to the 2018 concept. They came in 2 and 4 door layouts. Couple generations later came the Integra
Type R which really pushed technology to the edge in terms of performance, borrowing technology such as VTEC from the Legendary NSX.
The new 2018 Integra Type R will most likely be built on the similar body of the new 4 door Civic and will have the same turbocharged 2.0 300 horsepower and 300 torque engine. But how will the integra be different underneath?
Well, just like the Type R of the 90s, the New Integra will borrow technology from the new Acura NSX. Besides the 2.0 turbocharged engine turning the front wheels, the 2018 Integra Type-R will have two small electric motors in the back, one
for each rear wheel. Each electric motor has about 40 horsepower and 50 torque, so total power for the 2018 Integra will be around 380HP and 400tq. This also makes the car AWD. A lot of effort will go in to weight savings, using a mix of
aluminum and carbon fiber while keeping the total cost of the Ingegra Type R under $50 thousand dollars.
There you go, it doesn't hurt to dream, it would be nice to bring the Integra Name back along with impressive performance and world leading technology.
