Swat; is a river valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. It is the upper valley of the Swat River, which rises in the Hindu Kush range. The people of Swat are mainly Gujars ,Pashtuns and Kohistanis. The people claim them selves to be the descendants of the army of Alexander the Great.The religion followed is Islam and people understand the national language as well along with the local languages.The valley is located at a distance of 160 km from the federal capital Islamabad.It forms the upper valley of the river Swat (hence the name) and goes up to the Hindu Kush mountain range.
