Kerajaan Sriwijaya (Srivijaya Empire) was a maritime empire with its capital in around present-day Palembang City, in Sumatra Island. During its height, the empire control both the Malacca Strait and Sunda Strait encompassing around malayan peninsula, Island of Sumatra and parts of Java. controlling sea-trade from China to India, it become hub for global trade. It is also become an important centre of Buddhism.
