Last week I had the opportunity to shoot 2 of the remaining 3 PRR "Doodlebug" rail cars in service. On Saturday, July 30 the 4666 was used in conjunction with the RailPace magazine picnic at the Allentown & Auburn RR. Despite some appalling weather, the car put on a good show powered by its 6 cylinder Hamilton diesel engine, installed by the PRR in place of the original Brill gas engines in 1942. On Friday, August 5, the 4662 was scheduled for two regular runs out of Greenbank, DE to Mt. Cuba on the Wilmington & Western. 4662 has been repowered twice, PRR replaced the original Winton gas engines with Cummins diesels. The W&W is difficult to chase in this segment, but I managed a few shots. Herewith are the results.
