Both scientists and local residents in Tanzania have hailed the recent discovery of helium in the country. Despite recent shortages, researchers have found a helium reserve in southern Tanzania that could fill more than 1.2 million medical MRI scanners. Helium is a rare gas used in medical scanners, scientific research, spaceships, weather balloons and telescopes .The discovery of as much as 54 billion cubic feet of the gas could satisfy total world demand for almost seven years at current rates.
