你说什么？ nǐ shuō shén me ？ [What are you saying?]
听不懂. Tīng bù dǒng. [ I don’t understand.]
Today on Real Chinese we’re going to learn how to pick up girls.
教你怎么泡妞. Jiāo nǐ zěn me pào niū
We’re going to learn the basics.
Actually, if you’re in China and you see a girl, they don’t expect you
to speak much Chinese if you’re a foreigner, but if you do
it will make a real difference.
Like seriously guys, a big difference. And ladies too.
So first, what we learned in the first class was你好 nǐ hǎo
Remember? nǐ hǎo, it’s like “hiii,” I mean, say it with confidence,
but it’s like “hi, nǐ hǎo.”
And then we’re going to say a compliment to the girl, which is
你很漂亮 nǐ hěn piàoliang
nǐ hěn piào liang Thank you
Ok, ladies, guys are not beautiful. I can say
你 很帅 nǐ hěn shuài
But only the ladies get to be piào liang
Next we’re going to learn how to introduce yourself.
我是高伟 Wǒ shì Gāowěi
我是 Wǒ shì I am
我是 hěn piào liang [I’m beautiful!]
It’s saying “I am”
If you put your name in there then
Wǒ shì Rebecca
Next, we’re going to learn how to ask for her name
你叫什么名字 nǐ jiào shénme míng zì
It’s kinda long, it’s a lot of tones all together,
but maybe you can get her to ask you,
and you just have to understand it and then you can say
Wǒ jiào I’m called
So, 我叫 Rebecca
你叫什么名字？ Nǐ jiào shénme míng zì ？
我叫珊珊， 也叫Rebecca Wǒ jiào shān shān，wǒ yě jiào Rebecca
Next and finally, we are going to ask for her number.
你可以给我留你的电话号码吗？nǐ kě yǐ gěi wǒ liú nǐ de diàn huà hào mǎ ma ？
But seriously nobody asks for phone numbers anymore, nobody
Because that’s really cliché, because nobody calls anyone, everybody uses
wechat or 微信 wēi xìn
Can you please add me to your wechat?
我可以加你的微信吗？ wǒ kě yǐ jiā nǐ de wēi xìn ma ？［Which is actually, can I add your wechat?]
But, EVERYBODY uses wechat, like, my friends grandmas,
they send me texts－because we’re friends like that－and they don’t call me,
they send me a wechat message. So, don’t ask for the number, ask for the wechat. And then you can also stalk their Moments and learn all about how amazing they are.
