Lassie gets to meet her canine friend "Spike" when Rangers Cory and Barney (Spike's owner) get together to discuss some forestry business. When a thunderstorm threatens to raise the fast flowing river in the canyon area to dangerous levels, Cory and Barney set out to find their dogs who have gone chasing rabbits into the area of the river.
