It has been a pleasure growing these beautiful broad beans or Indian field beans or vaal or double vaal as it is known in Maharashtra , India ( as the pods form in pairs). Easy to grow, requiring little or no care, this beautiful bean plant does well in average well draining soil and 4 to 6 hours of sun. If one is blessed with a terrace garden and temperatures ranging between 20 and 30 degree celcius, one can grow this vine through the year as a perennial in India or most regions of the tropics. Broad beans are an excellent source of proteins for vegetarians, has good fibre content , folic acid and B group vitamins. These beans were tender , sweet and delicious and will definitely be grown again in my small space balcony container garden.
