Elliphant’s sweet jam had us seeing hearts. So much so that we drew them ourselves. Consider this video our 3rd grade Valentine’s day card to you, our crush.
Who made the jam?
Elliphant’s unconventional, free-spirited approach to life and art may set her apart in the pop world, but given the response to her music thus far, it appears to be exactly what the pop world has been waiting to hear. From the moment she released her first single, the deliciously cheeky, lo-fi “Tekkno Scene” to her most recent banger “Step Down,” there’s been an unrelenting clamor to define and categorize her unique, rasta-pop meets hip-hop meets dancehall sound. She’s been compared to MIA, toured the world with Charli XCX, and counts everyone from Diplo to Skrillex to TV On the Radio’s Dave Sitek as collaborators and creative co-conspirators.
Major Lazer is an American electronic music group originally created by record producers Diplo and Switch. Though Switch left the group in 2011, Diplo remained and added new members Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. Their music spans numerous music styles - mixing EDM with reggae, dancehall, electronic, reggaeton, house, and moombahton genres. Major Lazer has released three full-length albums, including an EP featuring vocal contributions from Pharrell Williams and Sean Paul. In addition, they produced “Reincarnated,” the debut reggae album by Snoop Dogg under his "Snoop Lion" persona.
Gyptian, is a Jamaican reggae singer. Under the guidance of Mr. Wong and Earl Chinna Smith, Gyptian honed his reggae dancehall sound, winning the 2004 Star Search talent competition, which earned him a spot at Sting 2004 (the “greatest one night reggae show on earth.”) In May of 2010, his single "Hold Yuh" peaked at number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 33 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Chart, number 6 on the Billboard Heatseekers Songs Chart and was at the top of the Reggae Digital Songs chart for nine consecutive weeks.
