I stopped by the high end sound and video system show in Guangzhou. 4 floors of the most exotic sound systems on earth and this is what I saw abs heard. A few surprises. Sure the million dollar systems sounded great but not always the best. I saw a few obscure Chinese systems that were not only cheap (under $5,000) but surprisingly better than their $50,000 European counterparts! Obviously the only serious systems all used vacuum tubes!
