UK: LONDON: KING HUSSEIN OF JORDAN VISIT

(25 Nov 1996) English/Nat King Hussein of Jordan, on a private visit to London, said Monday he was concerned at Israel's failure to conclude a deal with the Palestinians over the issue of Hebron. But he added he remained optimistic about the Middle East peace process. King Hussein addressed reporters after a meeting at the London offices of the Jewish Chronicle newspaper. SOUNDBITE: 'Your Majesty, has the peace process run out of steam?' 'I hope not.' 'How optimistic are you, sir?' 'I'm always an optimist and I hope that, er...' 'Are you concerned that there's no agreement on Hebron?' 'I am concerned that it has not been concluded as yet, but I hope it will. It must.' The King was then driven back to his hotel.
