Gunfire and loud bangs heard across the border

Various of border STORYLINE Gunfire was heard on the Egyptian side of the border with the Gaza Strip late on Thursday. An AP Television crew in Rafah heard gunfire erupt not long after President Hosni Mubarak addressed the nation. Several loud bangs were also heard. Unconfirmed reports suggested an Egyptian security outpost had come under attack from unidentified assailants, but AP had no independent means of verifying this.
