George Wylie was a part of the KRNT radio and TV / KCCI-TV news team in Des Moines, Iowa from 1967 through December 1983 (calls changed from KRNT to KCCI in 1974). But when he was not promoted to the evening newscasts following the departure of Russ Van Dyke, George sought out a new position and was named principal news anchor at WOI-TV (Ames/Des Moines, Iowa) in December 1983, and first appeared on WOI-TV in this newscast on January 2, 1984.
