Update: Unfortunately Carley passed away March 31, 2015. This voice is a real miracle. 19 year old Carley Allison wasn’t supposed to be able to sing again after she had 5cm of her trachea removed along with a cancerous tumor in 2013. After battling tracheal cancer, Carley was diagnosed with an inoperable kind of Lung Cancer called Clear Cell Sarcoma. She is fighting it now with an inspiring ability and attitude. Whatever she can do to beat this cancer, she is doing. Since she was an accomplished competitive figure skater, I knew that she possessed discipline, dedication and guts, but I had no idea how much humility and determination she had. The toll that her treatments take and the sacrifices she is making to beat this cancer would be daunting to even the most lionhearted, but Carley somehow manages it all and with a smile. When one says that they are ‘only human’, it is an acknowledgement that we all, as people, have limitations. What makes Carley so extraordinary and inspiring to me is how she accepts no limitations from herself for whatever is within her realm. Beautiful in every way, her very light frame, her whitening hair and sweet smile belies the powerhouse that she is. For someone who demands and delivers so much from herself, this cancer may make her feel like an ordinary human, but to me, she’s as super human as they get. …Oh, and what a great voice. Part miracle, part determination, part passion. It may be different than it used to be, but I can’t imagine it could ever be better! Thanks for giving us this recording.
