Creator(s): MCA/Universal Pictures. (Most Recent) Series : Motion Picture Releases of the Universal Newsreel Library, compiled 1929 - 1967 Collection UN: MCA/Universal Pictures Collection, 1929 - 1967 Production Date: 08/06/1964 Scope & Content: The original release sheet reads: UNITED STATES BOLSTERS FORCES PLANES AND MEN RUSHED TO ASIA Swift and sure has been U.S. retaliation for Communist PT-boat attacks on the high seas. The "Maddox" and the "C. Turner Joy" were attacked while patrolling international waters in the Gulf of Tonkin off north Viet Nam. War planes from two carriers avenged the unwarranted Red assault with 64 sorties against North Vietnam PT bases. Twenty-five boats - more than half the fleet - were destroyed and oil reserves badly damaged. President Lyndon Johnson went before the people to announce the U.S. action and Ambassador Adlai Stevenson reported to the United Nations. Meanwhile, a massive U.S. buildup is underway in Southeast Asia as people of all political faiths rally behind the President in this crisis. Fashions on parade- "THE RICH LOOK" Universal Newsreel continues its coverage of the latest fashion trends, photographed in color. The "rich" look may well be the "new" look as a result of Hollywood designer Jean Louis' latest effort. Assigned to create a million-dollar wardrobe for "the richest girl in the world" - Sandra Dee playing the role in "I'D RATHER BE RICH" - he outdoes himself with glamorous and sophisticated gowns that are readily adaptable to any purse. That is, with the exception of the raincoat - - it's snakeskin lined with (hold your hats) chinchilla fur!! note: The above sequence will not be in the Issue for those theatres who have already played Issue #62.
