XPS - EPS Showdown

Unbiased Independent Testing aimed at determining which product absorbs more moisture and looses more R Value over time in a wet environment. My thinking has evolved on this subject since I posted this video as I have received additional info from the building science community. My testing showed that EPS did wet up way more than XPS in identical environment. But then XPS has a much higher environmental footprint over EPS. So some just recommended increasing the EPS thickness to account for the loss of R value as it wets up. This is good advise, but there may be an even better way. ROXUL has now approved a mineral wool insulation for under a slab. Mineral wool has a much better environmental footprint (Especially ROXUL because it is produced using Hydro Electric Power) and is a free draining material. I will be incorporating a lab in the basement of my new home to test the characteristics of ROXUL/XPS/EPS in identical environments over time. https://www.theenclosure.ca/cms/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/BL2-Sub-Slab-Instrumentation.pdf
