They made me a fugitive (1947) - Trevor Howard, Vida Hope and Maurice Denham

This is the strange and quite disturbing scene in Cavalcanti's 'They Made Me a Fugitive' where escaped convict Trevor Howard seeks refuge in the home of housewife Vida Hope. To his surprise, she readily agrees to help him, but she has her own agenda...Vida Hope plays the scene in a very wooden manner, which rather spolis the overall effect, but I have always found this such an unusual scene in the film, and it also includes Howard's line about only doing in peace time what he was paid to do in wartime, which did not please the censors.
