Samurai Festival - Heike Ochudo Matsuri - Yunishigawa

In the small town of Yunishigawa in Tochigi they hold a festival to honor their town's founders. Over 800 years ago two great samurai clans - the Heike and Genji - warred with each other for control of the country. The Heike were eventually utterly defeated and the survivors fled to remote areas like Yunishigawa. In June, Yunishigawa does a parade of samurai and a variety of performances including biwa songs from the Tale of the Heike.
