At 308 metres (1,018 feet) with 72 habitable floors above London, The Shard is the tallest building in Europe at a cost of £435 million. Built from 2009 and opened last June 2012, it has 11,000 windows that need constant attention, cleaning and maintaining. This army of brave men abseil twice a week to keep The Shard spotless.
