At least 36 people were killed and dozens more were rescued from the water after two boats collided in water off Lamma Island, Hong Kong on Monday night. The Lamma IV was carrying 124 employees of a local electric company and had just left Lamma Island on its way to Victoria Harbor when it was hit by the Lamma Island ferry. The Lamma IV sank almost immediately, with survivors barely having time to put on life jackets. Emergency crews arrived at the scene within 15 minutes and pulled more than 100 people from the water and the wreckage of the boat. The damaged ferry failed to stop and made it safely to port.
