Part 1 of 3: Lake Maninjau & Minangkabau Village in West Sumatra, Indonesia Visited 13th & 14th February 2013 (1) The lake is approximately 35km west and 1.5 hour drive from Bukittinggi. From approximately 1000m near 44th bend (Embun Pagi) or 43rd bend, you get good panoramic views of the lake! Our driver-guide Mr Nando drove expertly on 44-bend (44 curves) road. Stayed one night at Hotel Pasir Panjang Permai. Thank God and our professional driver-guide! (2) The village (documentation centre) is located in Padang Panjang. It showcases the solid and rich heritage of the Minangkabau people in this land. You can see their characteristic buffalo-horn-like roofs!
