A UK Pathescope 9.5mm 1 reel sound film T.9313 of a UK British Lion musical cinema short of the 1930s. "Love Is Like A Cigarette" from Joe Loss & his Orchestra with a vocal from a very young Vera Lynn; The Petite Ascots tap-dance to "Whispering", "Some Of These Days" & "Nobody's Sweetheart"; Stanelli & Edgar do impersonations on violins. (Stanelli was born in Dublin as Edward Stanley de Groot, studying violin at the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music, after graduating playing with the Bournemouth Symphony, London Symphony and Halle Orchestras. Later he moved to variety, initially as a double act Stanelli & Edgar (both classical violinists) who fooled with violins, pianos and tap danced He later toured his own solo show "Stanelli's Stag Party" often with his "Hornchestra" a contraption with dozens of motor horns on which he would play various tunes. Stanelli died in 1961 - great info. from "Roy Hudd's Cavalcade of Variety Acts"! ) The Joe Loss/Vera Lynn and Petite Ascot items were included in a "They Survive On Ninefive" evening presented by Dave Wyatt & Grahame Newnham sometime ago at the British Film Institute. Purist film collectors note I have improved the Pathescope titles with original British Lion start and end - gln. These 1930s British Lion Variety cinema shorts seem to be 'lost' except for these rare 'home movie' 9.5mm optical sound film prints "They Survive On Ninefive" More info at:- http://www.pathefilm.uk/95flmdance.htm (Song and Dance at Pathescope) (I make no money from these uploads)
