CORP & Yreka Western

Scenes of the Central Oregon & Pacific and Yreka Western railroads taken in 1997 with a few CORP scenes from 2002. CORP was known for its antique signal hardware, having both the lower quadrant US&S semaphores and Magnetic Flagman Wig-Wag crossing protection, all relics from the Siskyou Line's days as an SP secondary route. There were no "through" freights on the line, instead traffic was relayed by "haulers" that worked the line as turnarounds. We were lucky to catch the Yreka Western dynamic brake-equipped SW8 doing a turn to Montague and a three way meet between the YW crew and the Montague and Weed haulers on CORP. Mt. Shasta dominates the scenes on the southern part of the railroad heading towards the then-SP interchange at Weed. The semaphores, wig-wags and GP38's have now passed from the scene, so enjoy these views of what is now history.
